CORAL to Host Session at 14th International Coral Reef Symposium
CORAL is proud to have been accepted to host a session on our approach to saving coral reefs at the
International Coral Reef Symposium (ICRS) in Bremen, Germany in July 2020. ICRS is the primary international conference on coral reef science, conservation and management, and is held once every four years in a different location.
CORAL's session will be led by Dr. Becky Twohey (CORAL) and Dr. Malin Pinsky (Rutgers University) and will include novel research from a soon-to-be-published scientific paper from CORAL scientists and partners. The session will explain how corals can adapt through evolutionary rescue and will include concrete examples of management actions that can encourage
coral adaptation.

Partnership with Skye Instruments LTD in West Maui
CORAL is excited to announce a new partnership with Skye Instruments LTD, who donated two weather stations for our Clean Water for Reefs Initiative in Maui. The ability to gather real-time weather data at our sites will improve our stream restoration work and reduce the amount of pollution entering waterways and the ocean. Major Success for Clean Water for Reefs Puakō
The Hawaiʻi State legislature recently approved funding to plan and design a Puakō sewer system and transition the community away from outdated cesspools. This is a huge milestone for CORAL and our statewide efforts to address wastewater pollution, and will dramatically improve coral reef health in West Hawaiʻi. (Photo: Sampling in Puakō) |
